Classic Cinnamon Apple Crisp

A family favorite apple crisp! Have a classic, tasty autumn treat ready in about an hour!


Units Scale

Apple Layer Ingredients:

6 apples. I recommend Granny Smith, Macintosh and/or Honeycrisp.

1/4 cup light brown sugar

1/4 cup granulated sugar

3 Tablespoons corn starch

1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

3/4 teaspoon salt

Crisp Topping Ingredients:

3/4 cup butter, cut into cubes

1 1/3 cup old fashioned oats

1 1/2 cups flour

1/2 cup light brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon


1. Wash, core and slice apples. It’s not necessary to peel them, but some people prefer to.

2. Preheat the oven to 375°. Coat the baking dish with butter (9×13 inch pan is recommended).

3. Combine the apple layer ingredients into a large mixing bowl (apples go in last). Toss to coat the apples completely and pour into baking dish.

4. Combine crisp topping ingredients. Use a fork or your hands until it becomes a soft crumbly texture. Spread crisp layer over the apple layer.

5. Bake at 375° for 10 minutes. Then, reduce oven temperature to 350° and bake for 35 more minutes. The crisp layer should be golden brown and the apple layer will bubble.

6. Allow to cool slightly before tasting. Top with vanilla bean ice cream for an even better dessert!
